Newborn Gift in Sologne, France: a Woodland Baby Name Poster
Key facts: Sologne, a land of forests and ponds south of Orléans in the Loire Valley, is the perfect setting for a woodland nursery. The woodland animals birth poster by Atelier Salad-Dressing Paris brings together a fawn, a bunny, a teddy bear and an elephant in watercolour, with baby's name, date, time, weight and length. It costs €5 and is emailed within 24 hours, every day, as two 300 DPI PDF files (A4 and A3).
Do you have family in Romorantin, Lamotte-Beuvron or a village by one of Sologne's many ponds, or are you an English-speaking family who has settled in the French countryside? In Sologne, nature is part of everyday life: forest walks, deer at dawn, heather in bloom at the end of summer. A woodland nursery print brings that world onto the wall of baby's room.
Why are woodland animals so popular for a new baby?
The fawn, the bunny and the teddy bear stand for gentleness and early wonder. They are reassuring figures for a little one and they never go out of style: the poster stays on the wall long after the nursery becomes a child's bedroom.
For a family in Sologne, these animals mean even more: they are the ones you spot at the edge of the woods, and the ones you will soon point out to your child on Sunday walks.
Creating a woodland nursery inspired by Sologne
The poster can be the starting point for a calm, nature-inspired room:
- colours: sage or forest green, beige, dusty pink and a touch of heather mauve;
- materials: light wood, linen, rattan, soft wool;
- details: a leaf garland, a fawn soft toy, a cloud or bird mobile;
- frame: a natural wood frame extends the forest feel.
